Sunday 4th August 10.30AM-12.30PM PT

Calling all nature lovers and curious creatives! Join The Joy of Drawing for an interactive live online workshop on Sunday, August 4th, from 10:30 AM to 12:30 PM, facilitated by guest artist Kate Rutter. (Always recorded if you can't make the live session.)

Take a delicious adventure into nature journaling with a deep dive into fruits and veggies! Nature Journaling is a magical blend of art and science that expands our curiosity and appreciation for nature's wonders through attention, observation, and creativity, all while building drawing and seeing skills.

In this workshop, we'll get up close and personal with a fruit or veggie of your choice, seeing it in new and novel ways. We'll use words, pictures, numbers, and all our senses to explore, to play, and to visually express the wonders of the seemingly everyday and ordinary.

- Discover the beauty of nature by visually noting observations,
questions, connections, and explanations on the pages of a notebook.
- Experiment with ways to explore form through gesture, contour,
negative space, and diagrammatic sketching.
- Relish the sensory joy of journaling edible objects
- Get curious, gestural and messy! "Art" is in the experience itself!

- Greater attention, focus, and mindfulness as you calm the mental
flutters and loosen up your creative muscles.
- Whole-brain engagement as simple prompts blossom into deep and intriguing questions and mysteries.
- Abundance and admiration for the bounty of nature.
- Wonder and appreciation for the everyday beauty that is all around us.

Join us and together we'll follow the wise advice of poet Mary Oliver: "Pay attention. Be astonished. Tell about it."
